Power in the Pelvis: Demystifying the Pelvic Floor
This class is an introduction to your pelvis where you will learn female pelvic anatomy from the inside out. Together, we will enter into the pelvic core in order to connect to the elemental intelligence within the body. Using anatomy, breath, and self touch as our guide, we will slowly explore this region in order to initiate a conversation within our own bodies - a conversation guided by sensation. We will move through the bones, the muscles, the fascia, and the organs of the pelvis, exploring sensation, learning about the body for the sake of learning about the body, and deepening the conversation with our own living tissue. If you are interested in this conversation, please join me. If you have concerns about your pelvic health - this might include pelvic pain, painful sex, bladder leakage, constipation, prolapse - this class is also for you. We will cover the basic anatomy and function of the pelvis and the pelvic floor, it’s role in bladder, bowel, and reproductive health, and suggestions for taking care of your pelvic health from a whole body perspective. Please come with questions regarding these issues and with an open and curious mind.

About the Instructor - Lauren is a board certified physical therapist who specializes in Pelvic Floor Therapy. Her practice stems from a curiosity and respect for the body and it’s constantly changing needs and desires. Over the past 13 years, this curiosity has led her through yoga teacher training, meditation retreats, LSU-HSC’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program, numerous pelvic floor courses, professional care training in the Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy, craniosacral training through the Upledger Institute and visceral manipulation training through the Barral Institute. As a result, Lauren has developed her own unique way of listening to the body in order to facilitate a return to balance. Through communication with the innate intelligence of the body, she hopes to encourage individuals to remember and reconnect with their deep inner wisdom in order to create the conditions necessary to heal and to thrive. She finds that working specifically with the core supports and assists full expression of the body.
